There never seems to be an endless supply of Windows Mobile devices out there to look at. The Atom V from Mwg is no exception.

Thanks to [ Overseas Electronics ] for getting me the review Atom V.

From the same team that created O2 devices, comes the Atom V. Lets break it down, first the specifications.

The Atom has a fast XScale PXA 270 Processor at 520 MHz, which should smoke for Windows Mobile, but here is where Microsoft lets me down again. The OS is marginally fast, but not don’t exepct a speed demon.

[ The unboxing ] video.

Hardware wise, a decent build. Solid and with a rubberized back, offers a non slip hold on the Atom V.

The controls, placed toward the bottom end of the Atom V offer a decent layout to control Windows Mobile.

The center pad is a four way rocker, with a center press button. The build quality for the center dial pad was a little weak. Cheap plastic and sometimes the center button got stuck when being pressed. Maybe this was just a lemon. Lets hope so.

The Atom V is light and thin.

On the software side of things. The Atom V comes loaded with the standard build of Windows Mobile Professional 6. Not too many other third party application here. A Gps utility, Streaming Player, Fm radio. Those are the notable ones.

So the wrap up.

A decent, Pda, somewhat slowed down by Windows Mobile. The Atom V comes with some nice included applications, but nothting groundbreaking here for a Windows Mobile Pda device.
